As we get ready for bed, on our last night, this trip has made me wish that I knew more about my maternal grandfather, F JV Hansom, who lived and worked in India a long, long time ago. In fact, my mother was conceived here in India, although her mother insisted on being back in the UK for her birth. I can see why she might have felt like that in the early 1900’s! But finding out more now could be really difficult – there’s no-one left to ask.
